VISITING VISA

This type of visa package simply means you are leaving your home country or current country of residence to another country for a temporary stay, either for a short-term stay which is within 90 days, or for a long-term stay which is more than 90 days.

One thing is certain with this type of visa, which is your return back to your home country or country of residence. With this in mind, it is of greater importance to show to the visa officer in charge of your application that you have ties to your home country and strong reasons to return home after your temporary stay.

What are ties to the home country?

These have to do with your status such as financial status, employment status, residential status, marital/relationship status, and others as your case may be.

  • Financial status: This has to do with your income, investments, and assets of good value. Showing your financial status to the visa officer in charge of your application does not necessarily have to do with a huge sum of money sitting in your account(s); this goes beyond just having money in your account. A good financial status of an applicant must not only show a good sum of money sitting in his/her account but also good inflow and outflow. In most cases, we recommend that your monthly inflow should be at least 75% equivalent of the country’s monthly minimum wage you are looking to get into. Also, your outflow should be minimal but consistent, more like a savings account. Lastly, the account must have been running for at least the past six months before the date of submission to the visa officer in charge.
  • Employment status: This explains more about your source of income and how you generate revenue in your day-to-day activities. The employment status of an applicant always speaks the loudest when it comes to ties, as this requires you to explain and show documents of how the funds in your account were obtained, thus throwing more light on your financial status. A good employment status requires professionalism in the kind of service(s) you offer, your consistency, your transparency, and commitment towards the group or company you serve. Words are not enough to explain these areas of your work life; you also need to show documents such as employment letters, recommendations, portfolios, achievements/awards, referees (reputable persons in your area of specialization), and payslips or six months’ earnings from your company or firm.
  • Residential status: This simply explains more about where you live and how long you have been staying there, either as a citizen, permanent resident, government staff/official, or temporary resident. There are possible ways you can explain and show your residential status to the visa officer in charge of your application and boost your chances of having stronger home ties, such as birth certificate, nationality, citizenship status, official status, residential documents, and travel history. Also, having someone to give a written note or showing documents or pictures outside your legal documents to prove your residential status can help. For your travel history, all you need to do is show the stamped pages of your international passport detailing all the countries or places you have traveled to and the number of times. It is always advisable to spend more time in your home country or permanent residence if you want to have stronger ties through your residential status.
  • Marital/relationship status: As humans, it is natural for us to cohabit with one another and build relationships, either long-term or short-term. It is of great importance to show your relationship status to the visa officer in charge of your application. As an applicant trying to enter another country, it is the duty of the visa officer to know if you are related to anyone and your purpose of entry. Your relationship status explains more about your nationality and citizenship ties to your home country and gives the visa officer insight into your personal life and responsibilities. Providing this information and backing it up with documents will undoubtedly increase your chances and strengthen your home ties if your status is good enough. Having someone back home gives the visa officer more reasons to believe you will return after your stay, especially if such person(s) are important to you, such as an elderly person, your children, a sick person, or your spouse. Always provide documents such as birth certificates, nationality, citizenship, medical letters (in the case of a sick or elderly person), marriage certificates (in the case of a spouse), and other supporting documents for friends, siblings, and relatives.
  • Stronger reasons: What other reasons can be stronger to explain and show in documents to the visa officer in charge that you will return home after your temporary stay, other than the ones listed above? To add up, it is very important that you can explain in your own words, either in person or in writing, your purpose of visit, how long you plan to stay, and when you will return, pointing out factors that will prompt your early return after your stay.

Please note: These factors do not guarantee your visa; they only put you in the best position with the visa officer, thereby increasing your chances of approval. However, it is still the power of the visa officer in charge of your application to approve or deny your application based on his/her discretion, as other factors can affect your application either positively or negatively.
