Undergraduate Programs

Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences

“This faculty consists of the Departments of Business Administration, the Department of Economics and the Department of Social Sciences. Besides teaching and research in the fields of Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Sociology and Communication, and Media Studies, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences is involved in various interdisciplinary research centers such as the Centre of Competence for Public Management (KPM), the World Trade Institute (WTI), the Center for Regional Economic Development (CRED), the Oeschger Centre for Climate Research (OCCR), the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies (IZFG).”

“This faculty incorporates the Institute of Educational Science, the Institute of Psychology and the Institute of Sport Science. Education and psychology traditionally enjoy close links, but this is only part of the story. They also have much in common in terms of the topics they cover and share a great deal of methodology.”

Entry Requirements for Undergraduate

C1 certificate in German or French language. Can get your C1 language certificate from Goethe Institute Nigeria or Ghana.
Must have credits C5 upwards in Mathematics and English.
Must have at least three extra credits in credible subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Business, Art subjects with one B3 making it five credits and one B3 altogether, Mathematics and English inclusive.
Must have completed high school or study at least 12 units course program for minors and qualify with more than 5 credits B3 inclusive in the general entry examinations recognized globally. (WAEC, GCE, NECO, WASSCE)
Ages 16 to 65 can apply. (Ages 16 and 17 are considered minor and will require parents/guardian consent when and where necessary).
Must have a standard digital photo and National Identity document like International passport.
Must have the needed financial supports ready and available as processing will not be complete if you fail to fulfill whatever financial agreement or conditions needed to secure a seat for yourself in the program you are looking to opt in for. Else you are exempted, under scholarship or financial grants/aids. Such cases requires you to provide documents as evidence to your claim.

Entry Requirements for Undergraduate

Recognized Bachelor’s degree in subject area with 180 credit points.
2.2 at undergraduate degree or 2.5 to 4.0 GPA
Must be above 18yrs

The University of Bern offers a wide range of scholarships, student grants, and loans to international students, including EU students who pay international tuition fees. These financial supports come with specific terms and conditions to qualify, and one of the most important requirements is having a good knowledge of either the German or French language. In many cases, scholarships are usually awarded to international students after completing their first year of studies, and eligibility is often based on academic performance. As an international student, finding a part-time job while studying in Switzerland is a great opportunity to earn extra money, meet new people, and build professional skills. However, to be eligible to work, you must be on an international student visa, and you must have already started your full-time studies and completed at least six months at your university. Students are only allowed to take on part-time jobs, meaning you are not permitted to own a company, work full-time, or engage in professional sports. Students usually gets casual (no fixed hours) and part-time work.Many of the part-time or casual jobs (with no fixed hours) available to students can be found either within the university itself or in sectors that typically employ part-time workers such as hospitality and retail. Even if you're working on a casual basis, you are still entitled to the same rights and responsibilities as other employees in Switzerland, including social insurance (AVS-Address Verification Service), unemployment contributions, insurance, and paid vacation.

Please note, if you’re a part-time student, you can’t work.

For full-time students, you are allowed to work up to 15 hours per week during term time if you're enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program, while those in diploma programs are limited to 10 hours per week. Working part-time is a great way to support yourself financially, gain relevant experience, and learn more about working life in Switzerland. However, your academic commitments should always come first. Taking on too much work could interfere with your study time, increase stress, and negatively impact your attendance or performance.
