Best advised you choose any course within these major areas of study as it will help prepare you for the job demands in the global market of our world today.

“Agricultural scientists make a valuable contribution to ensuring reliable, ecological, economical and socially sustainable human nutrition. Here, they strive to optimize the use of limited natural resources.”

“A new understanding of life. The study program for biology is a course in fundamental principles which encompasses an enormously wide range of specialist areas. After the solid grounding of the Bachelor’s course, in the Master’s degree program students opt for one of nine specialization in which they learn about the specific methods of working and research that are applied in biology. About two thirds of all Master’s graduates continue their education with a doctorate.”

“Understanding the chemical properties of biological building blocks, their transformation processes and interactions with their environment, both at the molecular and macro-molecular level in the test tube and in living organisms is crucial. This curriculum provides a sound theoretical and practical training in the core subjects of chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology. Building on a broad foundation of basic scientific knowledge in mathematics, physics and general, physical chemistry, teaching focuses on organic-chemical and biochemical reaction mechanisms, including chemical synthesis and research into the mode of action of biologically active compounds.”

“Computational Science and Engineering differs from Computer Science. It also differs from traditional, natural and engineering sciences, offering a third component in addition to theory and experiment. Computational Science and Engineering is interdisciplinary, application-oriented, focuses on problem-solving and is essentially based on the use of the computer.”

“Science and Technology in human service. The program in Health Sciences and Technology trains specialists who use science and technology in the service of human health and thus create new opportunities in the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of diseases.”

“Pharmacists acquire fundamental knowledge about drugs. They are specialists in this field and work in a very diverse range of areas for the benefit of the society. They perform research on new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches in industry, address pharmaceutical questions in complex health-related and sociopolitical contexts, work in consulting and knowledge transfer as well as holding positions in the public sector or manage public or hospital pharmacies.”

“Agricultural scientists take a system-oriented approach. This means that they think and act along interdisciplinary lines and view an entire system from a scientific, sociological and technical perspective. Agricultural sciences are based on mathematics, natural and social sciences, which is why we require you to have an appropriate profile when applying.”

“The master’s degree program in Biology has the goal to convey the biological concepts and practical skills necessary in different areas of biology (see «Specializations»). A special emphasis is placed on experimental research. During the program students complete two research projects – 12 weeks each – and a Master’s thesis (six months). Aside from the practical work, students attend specific lectures, tailored to the different specializations.”

“The master´s degree program in Biochemistry–Chemical Biology (BCB) is designed to deepen academic knowledge with a focus on experimental scientific work in the areas of chemical biology, biochemistry and organic chemistry and their interfaces with biology, bioanalytics, pharmacy and biomedical fields. The professional and methodological training is supplemented by a choice of general education courses in the humanities, social and political science.”

“Cyber Security is a cornerstone for the continued expansion and acceptance of the information society as well as a fundamental research discipline within computer science. Given the news coverage of cyber security issues in recent years, the importance of the topic is self-explanatory. Beyond enhancing existing systems, security technologies further enable new applications and have transformative effects on the society by redefining and challenging trust relationships and assumptions. Research in cyber security strives to find solutions to pressing security problems in computer systems, networks and their applications.”

“The master's degree program in Computer Science at ETH Zurich offers a profound and in-depth education in several core areas of computer science. The program guides each individual student in taking a meaningful path through the variety of course offers and designing a profile that matches both personal inclinations and prospective career opportunities. The master’s degree program combines theory and hands-on practice to provide students with a well-rounded education.”

“The master’s degree program is the key to specialization. Subjects are selected to adequately supplement the main focus areas of the second and third years of the bachelor’s program. The program concludes with a master’s thesis on a current research subject.”

“The specialized master's degree program in data science equips students with all relevant knowledge and skills while combining theoretical foundations with practical experience. A central part of the program is the Data Science Laboratory, where students tackle specific and practical problems of interdisciplinary applications. In this course, students engage in all tasks, from the process of modeling to the implementation and validation of data science techniques.”

“The MSc Management, Technology, and Economics is a four-semester, a full-time program for ambitious students having a Bachelor’s degrees in engineering or natural science. We aim to equip students to develop innovative and intelligent solutions to meet today’s most pressing challenges in business and society, shaping innovative business practices, designing agile workflows, and creating sustainable solutions in a world of finite resources.”

“The outstanding feature is that the three semesters in the master's degree program combines a thorough scientific education with industry-specific training. Students acquire an in-depth knowledge in various fields of Pharmaceutical Sciences and gain scientific skills and insight into drug development process.”
