Undergraduate Programs
“The curriculum provides the broadest possible overview of the various fields of biology and the different levels of organization of living organisms, from molecules to ecosystems. Many courses are accompanied by practical work, which becomes increasingly integrated into research laboratories as the program progresses.”
“UNIL offers two bilingual university bachelor’s degree in French and English, the Bachelor of Science in Management and the Bachelor of Economics. These Bachelor’s programs share an identical core curriculum for the first two years, followed by a specialization in one of the two programs in the third year. From the first week of these programs, you will be exposed to interactive course formats that promote group work and allow the development of skills and values of collaboration, self-management, responsibility, integrity, and entrepreneurship. These programs also require great rigor on your part since the training is highly quantitative from the first year, with courses in mathematics, statistics, accounting, and programming, representing more than two-third of the program.”
The diversity of research fields, ranging from recording nerve cell activities to studying the effects of psychotherapies, makes a simple definition of 'psychology' difficult. As it has progressed, its definition has evolved over time. It has gone from the 'science of mental life' over a century ago, to the 'science of observable behavior' in the 1920s and 1960s, to become the science of behavior and mental processes, whether individual or social, taking into account the various determinants (biological, contextual, social, cultural, etc.)”
Postgraduate Programs
“The Master of Science in Medical Biology is intended for those interested in biological research in the field of medicine. This Master's degree focuses on acquiring key skills necessary for the development of new preclinical and clinical medical applications. This training provides in-depth knowledge of basic cellular functions, signal transmission systems within and between cells, human biology, and the normal and pathological functioning of major body systems. Another major focus of this training is the system dysfunction leading to pathology, ranging from understanding the mechanism to disease prevention and/or treatment.”
