Best Time to Apply

If you fail to prepare then prepare to fail. It is best advised to start making arrangements for your application before the portal is open on 1st of September to the last Wednesday of January for new intake, at least three months before time—that’s by May. During this time you will be able to get all your documents ready and the other requirements for a successful application. It’s better to have all documents ready and be sure to meet the entry requirements for your chosen course before the start date for applying.

In TU, courses have various intake terms but most courses start in September, although there are some with January, May, October, or November intakes. Programs like Computing & Cyber Security, Nursing & Health, and the International Student Pathway have multiple intake terms. Kindly find your course to know the exact start date(s).

Note: Start dates for courses differ from start date for applications. That is the date in which portals are open for application and it differs from the date you’re expected to resume studies based on your choice of course.

Tuition Fees & Living Expenses

Tuition fee ranges from £17,000 upwards for degree programs per year and can vary based on your choice of course. As an international student, ensuring you enjoy your studies is a top priority for both the immigration government and the university. TU provides robust support and a conducive environment for students coming from far and near, but you must also have the necessary resources and finances to meet educational standards that rival top-tier global institutions.

Cost of living in the UK starts at around £9,500 upwards per year for the primary applicants, with an additional cost of approximately £700 per month for dependents. For more precise information on tuition fees, find your course to know the exact amount required for a successful application. Period of Application

Study time varies based on your program and choice of course. Most courses have openings for applicants to study either full time or part-time. Undergraduate programs typically last three(3) to four(4) years for full-time study for most courses, while part-time programs may extend to five(5) to six(6) years depending on your course. Postgraduate programs generally take around two(2) years for full-time study and about three(3) years for part-time study. Kindly find your course to know the exact study time.

Scholarships & Student Part-time Jobs

Teesside University offers a wide range of scholarships to international students (including EU students who pay international fees). In most cases, scholarships are awarded to international students after the first year of studies based on your performance. To find out if you are eligible, click here for more information.

As an international student, finding a part-time job while at university in the UK is a great way to earn enough income, meet new people, and build professional skills. To do so, you must be on an international student visa and have begun your full-time studies. Students are only allowed to work part-time jobs—which means you can’t own a company, work full time, or be a professional sportsperson. Often, these jobs are casual (no fixed hours) or part-time positions found either at the university or in industries such as hospitality and retail that employ part-time workers.

Please note, if you’re a part-time student, you can’t work.

Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week if you are completing an undergraduate or postgraduate program and 10 hours per week for diploma programs during term time, and up to 40 hours per week outside of term time.

Working is a great way to earn extra money, gain professional experience, and learn more about working life in the UK. However, your university course should always be your priority. Taking on too much work could make it harder to find study time, cause extra stress, or even affect your attendance. Consulting with your university employment team, international student officer, or academic tutor can help you find the right balance. Learn more...

Accommodation

There are different kinds of residence designed for students both on and off campus. At Teesside University UK in Middlesbrough, the price for a student lodge ranges from £85 a week (£3,400 a year) to £165 a week (£6,600 a year) for a single room for a 40-week period – making it one of the most affordable options in the area. It’s a self-contained space equipped with basic social amenities including heating, lighting, student bedroom insurance, and free internet access, all included in the cost. You also have your own cooking space which you can modify to suit your taste. Students can choose between mixed or single residence based on gender. On-campus accommodation offers benefits such as school security, easy access to friends, and reduced transportation costs.

If you intend to bring dependents, you are strongly advised to make accommodation arrangements before traveling to the University, as most student lodges do not permit family accommodation. In such cases, private or temporary accommodation may be arranged through agents who link you with landlords – just be sure to verify the landlord before any financial commitment.
